vWorkers, please beware of an attempted scam by this employer!

vWorker has recently become aware of an employer by the name of Matthew Rose from Ocala, FL, who posted some large projects in an attempt to scam workers into sending money to him off-site. He has gone by the screen names of "mr. rose" and "billionair".

In the private messages/site IM logs, this employer has been falsely claiming to personally know the CEO of vWorker, Ian Ippolito, and falsely claiming that he has "special permission" from Ian to take his projects off-site. After obtaining workers' contact information (email address, Skype name, etc), he asks them to send “expert guarantee” deposit payments directly to him through Western Union while at the same time also claiming that he will return up-front advance payments (of smaller amounts) to the workers to do some work for him. He also claims to work for Universal Music Group, which is one of the largest record labels in the US. He does not know Ian, does not have permission to go off-site, and Universal Music Group does not have offices in Ocala, FL.

If any readers run into this person on-site (or have spoken with him off-site), please be EXTREMELY careful and wary of any claims that he is making, and DO NOT send ANY money to him via Western Union, Moneygram, Paypal, Moneybookers, or any other means. He has contacted approximately 40 workers with this attempted scam, and vWorker has permanently closed his account because of it… however, he may try to come back on the site to continue the scam, so if any of you do see a project posted in which the employer asks for something similar to the above, please use the “Report” link to let us know right away or contact our office so that we can investigate it ASAP.

The projects that he listed on the site are:
“Iphone App - with myspace and facebook” – 1611604
“Movie in 3-D Animation” – 1611020
“face book and myspace building software” – 1610997
“ebay and amazon” – 1610989
“web site” – 1610961

In addition to the above, before he attempted to start this scam, he posted other projects with *extremely* high maximum bids (hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars) relating to music videos, music production, telemarketing, SEO, and Myspace/Facebook page construction.

Thank you to each of you for your continued patronage of the site. We do truly appreciate you, as you are part of what makes all of this possible. We make every attempt to provide the safest marketplace around for all of you to conduct business, and we want each of you to be successful in your endeavors.

Sincerely,
Michael Legato
